Small action grants programme

The MEDFORVAL network funds the implementation by the sites of field actions and small projects in the following domains:

  • Biodiversity conservation and management in HEVF
  • Awareness raising, education, and dissemination of HEVF values
  • Capacity building and institutional development in HEVF sites

 

A first call for small projects was launched at the end of 2015, and four grants were awarded out of the eight submissions received, with a view to implement concrete actions in the field. These four projects are:

At the dawn of 2017, the Caracal was not found, but campaigns of awareness and education were carried out.

 

Today, collection is underway and a botanist is doing surveys in the field, while a forest monitoring team has been set up to limit degradation.

The MEDFORVAL project Secretariat visited the Sharhabil Bin Hassneh EcoPark (Jordan) MEDFORVAL site in January 2017.

A first awareness workshop was conducted at the end of 2016, followed by a youth camp in March/April 2017 and a meeting for adults in May 2017.

Update on July 12th, 2017: The Jordanian small project has now ended. More information to come!
